Classic Car Insurance with American Collectors Insurance

With more and more people becoming involved in classic car collecting, businesses have realized that these special cars are going to need special insurance. Now, of course you can insure your classic car with your regular insurance company, but you may not receive the best offer. Companies that specialize in classic car insurance may offer better coverage and rates for your classic vehicle. American Collectors Insurance
Since 1976, American Collectors Insurance has been America’s premiere provider of classic car insurance. Located over the Internet at www.americancollectorsins.com, American Collectors Insurance insures all kinds of collector cars, including classic cars, antique cars, street rods, classic motorcycles, and even antique fire trucks!

Qualifications
In order to be insured with American Collectors Insurance, you must—
• have a collector car that is at least 15 years old. However, if you live in Massachusetts, your car has to be at least 25 year old.
• not drive your classic car more than 2,500 miles per year.
• keep your classic vehicle in a garage.
• have a clean driving record.
• possess at least 10 years of driving experience.
• have at least one “regular” car for every licensed drive in your household.

How the Policy Works:
Regular car insurance works differently than classic car insurance. You see, most regular car insurance provides the driver with “Actual Cash Value” coverage. This means that if an everyday car, like a Honda Civic, has an accident and is totaled, the insured person receives the replacement cost minus the depreciation on the vehicle. In other words, the insured party does not receive what the car may be truly worth.

With American Collectors Insurance, if your classic car gets into an accident and is totaled, you receive its “Agreed Value Coverage,” which is the full insured value of the classic car. So, this means that you and American Collectors Insurance agree upfront on the value your classic car. This is written down in you policy, so if you get into an accident and your car is considered totaled, the company must pay you the previously agreed amount that your car is worth. That is why classic car insurance is much better than regular car insurance. However, my apologies go out to residents of, Massachusetts, Texas, and Virginia. This coverage is not available in those states.

Price Quotes
The price of classic car insurance may be less than you think. Another great thing about American Collectors Insurance’s web site is that it has an instant quote button. Click your mouse on that button, and you can receive a quote on how much your insurance will be for classic car. Classic car insurance is low because companies, like American Collectors Insurance, place certain restrictions on the cars they insure. Hop on their web site for a free quote. You may be pleasantly surprised.

So, the lesson learned here is even if you do not insure your collector’s car with American Collectors Insurance, look into other classic car insurance companies. Really consider getting a quote from a business that specializes in classic cat insurance. You may be able to save a lot of money.
